The Great Divide Presentation

Great Divide

As most of you know by now, two of our LCBC members conquered the Continental Divide this past summer on mountain bikes. This was a dream that Ken Apacki and Eddie McKee turned into a reality.

Update:

There was a huge turnout for the Great Divide presentation.  The Librarian counted 48, which according to her, was 4 times the average attendance for most public presentations. Additional chairs had to be carted into the room to accommodate the group.  Ken and Eddie gave a very interesting and often humorous narration of the slide show depicting their beautiful, yet rigorous journey.  Ken even brought his bike, trailer and gear for display, as well as his and Eddie's favorite meal of instant potatoes, sardines and lima beans. He attempted to give away these delicacies as door prizes, but surprisingly, there were no takers!

The presentation attracted a wide spectrum of outdoor enthusiasts ranging from one on crutches to one that rode a Go One in the snow to make the show.  It can safely be said that everyone had a good time, and enjoyed the presentation.  The big question is, how many out of the crowd will be planning their own Continental Divide trip!?

A BIG Thanks to Ken and Eddie for sharing your trip and stories with us all!!

(again I ask....What's next?)

If any are interested in local "off road" rides, or even weekend trips into southern Ohio or West Virginia, check out the Mountain Biking discussion group on the LCBC Forum.  We are trying to coordinate some rides, and would like to get a group together.  Trips range from gravel roads in some cases, to single track wooded trails.
